Applications
Application Form. Applicants must submit through the Application Page. To be considered complete, a form must have a Youtube link OR a cloud storage link (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc) and the terms and conditions must be accepted.
Any Virtual Reality Rhythm Game. Submissions are accepted for any game played with a virtual reality headset in which player movements are synchronized with music.
1 Entry per Event. Competitors may submit a maximum of 1 entry per event. There is no limit or requirement on the number of events a competitor may enter. Each event application must be submitted as a separate form.
Music. Applicants must use approved music. Shortening a song with trimming/fading is allowed; remixing is not.
Not Final. If selected as a finalist, competitors have the right to use a different game/map/song, and to hone the details of their performance.
Video
Time Limits. Final performances are subject to time limitations which will be announced in the future (approx 2-4 minutes). There are no time limitations for applications. Shortening songs with trimming/fading is encouraged.
Stationary position. The camera must be in a stationary position looking forward from behind the player (3rd-person/“over the shoulder”) except in Technical and Art Map.
No edits. The submission must be a single continuous take.
In-game scoring [updated 5.22.21]. A Heads Up Display showing scoring during gameplay is required for all events except Art Map.
End of Game Score. Competitors must show continuous single take to the end of the level to verify their in-game score.
Scoring
Event Scoring. The specific scoring rules for each event may be found on their respective event pages:

Environment. For the application submission period, light show, HUDs, and other environment modifiers will not be a factor. (This does not apply to the Art Map category.) We advise against them and prefer a clean performance recording for the purposes of audition review.
Lighting Doesn’t Matter. Light shows, Heads Up Displays, and other environment modifiers are not evaluated for applications (except for Art Maps). Simple backgrounds that allow judges to focus on your performance are encouraged.
Settings & Modifiers
Definition. For the sake of these rules, “Settings” are officially-supported changes made in-game like No Fail and Reduce Debris. “Modifiers” (or “mods”) are 3rd-party/unsupported changes like Maul Blades and Feet Saber.
All settings. All settings in all games are allowed for applications that do not conflict with other rule requirements. Specific settings requirements will be announced for the finalist submissions.
Declaration. All settings and modifiers must be declared in the submission form.
By Request. Competitors may ask that a game/mod be added to the approved list and are subject to review.
Modifiers as listed. Modifiers must be explicitly permitted on a game’s page.
